About Me

Hey tennis players! I’m Vir and I can’t wait to help you along your journey in the sport. I’ve been playing tennis since I was 5, and over the last 12 years, it’s become a major aspect of my life.

I have played on the USTA circuit for nearly 10 years, am a third year member and captain of the Archbishop Mitty High School Varsity Tennis team, and have coached everyone from kids in spring break camps to adults since the age of 16. I’ve attended rigorous tennis camps under Division 1 college players— including the likes of UCLA and Stanford.

But besides being a committed player, I am first and foremost a tennis fan at heart, and can talk about my favorite players and matches for hours (when taking a water break, of course).

Teaching Style

For the last 2 years, along with tennis, I have also worked as a math tutor at the Russian School of Mathematics, so being clear in my communication and explanations is something I’ve perfected over the years.

Moreover, I’m a very vocal coach, and am constantly emphasizing positive reinforcement and clear direction on technique especially for players just starting out. For intermediate and advanced players, along with being able to play with my students and assess their consistency, I emphasize necessary footwork/conditioning that every tennis player needs to be match-fit. But I’m also flexible, and my years of tennis experience both playing and coaching have exposed me to a variety of coaching drills/styles, so I can guarantee my sincerest efforts in curating our lessons to your needs.

But perhaps most importantly of all, I emphasize professionalism during lessons. If you’re trusting me to coach you in tennis, I will make sure to pay it back by ensuring my utmost dedication to making the most of our time together.
