About Me
My name is Roberto. I was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, and I came to the United States four years ago to play college tennis. I recently graduated from Azusa Pacific University (nation's top 10 NCAA Division II school) with a B.A. in Business Management and served as the team's captain on my last semester. I have also coached beginner and intermediate players of all ages in Costa Rica as well as several collegiate dual matches. Regarding my playing history, I have played tournaments in over 10 countries, obtained a junior international ranking, and reached a ranking of #8 in Costa Rica.
Teaching Style
I like to get to know the player better and know his or her goals. If you want to have fun and get a nice workout, I will focus on hitting, playing points, and doing fun drills that will for sure make you feel that you made the most out of the session. If you are a beginner and want to learn the basics, I can work in a very technical aspect and make sure you master the bases of each stroke before moving on to competition and strategies. For more advanced players, I focus on tactics, mental strength, conditioning, and matchplay.

Excellent
Roberto is the best coach for my kids.
He is very patient!
Robbie coached my 6yr old daughter which she had lots of fun but at the same time we’ll balanced with structure and great patience. Definitely recommend for kids!
I really enjoy my time with Roberto every time I step out on court with him. I usually work with him for an hour and he always makes me work up a sweat while making the sport fun as well. He is great for any skill level from beginner to advance and can focus on anything you may need like technique, footwork, strategy, or if you just want a nice workout. He has helped me in a lot of technique work that I needed as well as different strategy plays on different types of opponents. Roberto is so friendly on and off the court which makes it easy to receive coaching from him. I definitely recommend him to absolutely anyone who wants to learn how to play tennis and/or improve their skills.
Very patient, always on time, and very funny. Helped me to improve my serve a lot. Worked with him for 6 months
Roberto has been the only instructor with the patience to help me bring my game back after many years inactivity. After a couple of months, I can finally hit consistently and my form has improved dramatically. I can't wait to start joining local tournaments and challenging myself again, with the confidence that he will be there to coach me.
Highly recommended!
