Orlando began his tennis-teaching experience during his junior year in high school at a fitness club in Midland, Texas, teaching life skills. "I became a tennis pro because it has allowed me to do something I have loved for a long time," he says.
Orlando had served as the Texas Division Multicultural Committee chair since 2003-2006. In addition, Orlando has been awarded the 2009-2010 District Pro of the Year for the USPTA Florida division.
Orlando served as the USTA Texas Section Multicultural Participation Committee chair 2003-2005, Texas Section Executive Committee from 2005-2006. He served as a member of the USTA's National Junior Tennis & Learning Committee (formerly the National Junior Tennis League) and Multicultural Participation Committee. and received the 2002 Texas Section Multicultural Participation Leadership Award. The section also recognized him in 2004 with the Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award.
As a player, Orlando was ranked in the USTA Texas Section during his junior career and was ranked in the top five in District 4-5A representing Midland High School. He was a walk-on with the tennis team at Texas Tech University in 1993 and placed second in men's open doubles at the 2004 American Tennis Association National Championships.
Teaching Style
My areas of expertise include teaching players to become more aggressive and build confidence to have an all around game so they are comfortable on all parts of the court. I structure my lessons with both drill-base and play-base components.
